During this debate Martin Linton asked Home Secretary Charles Clarke to confirm that all of the pieces of information that would be required on the national identity register are already required for passport applications.
Charles Clarke agreed with this point.

I have just heard the idiotic Linton speak in the latest debate on ID Cards a few minutes ago. I put his name into a search engine and found your site.
The man is a complete idiot and a stooge, he spent ages wittering on in a debate that is only 40 minutes long.
I feel sorry for you if he is your MP, though not as sorry as I am having Hilary Benn as mine.

I too detest the man, he seems to have done nothing for the good, certainly nothing for Battersea throughout his tenure.
But..this comment of his does seem to suggest that the penny may have dropped. It's not an entitlement card. no. That's right Martin, it's the all new fascism card. That's right. Swallow. Gulp. It's the all new government profiling and monitoring card.
Realise it. Realise it. It's hard, it's shattering, but please. Come on. Shattered dreams time. You're working for the nasty guys (but, thankfully pretty poorly).
