August 2006 Archives

The Times today has an article which quotes Martin Linton talking about the date of Tony Blair's departure.

Martin Linton, a Blair loyalist, said last night: “I've always thought that he’s said he will give his successor ample time. There’s no need for us to spend all our time speculating about when that might be because he’s in the middle of a lot of things.”
On the face of it, this would seem to contradict yesterday's Guardian story.

The Guardian reports that Martin Linton may be amongst "previously loyal MPs" who are considering sending a letter to Tony Blair demanding that he uses his upcoming conference speech to name the date that he plans to leave office.

Black Britain have a report on a visit that Martin Linton (together with Tooting MP Sadiq Khan) made to the Balham Health Centre last week. To publicise Sickle Cell Awareness Month, they were both tested for sickle cell and thalassemia during the visit.
