Sometimes it's easy to think that Tooting MP Sadiq Khan writes more about Martin Linton than Martin Linton does. Here are extracts from three recent entries from Sadiq's blog.
On Sunday, I spent the afternoon in Balham calling on local residents and listening to their priorities and concerns. The feedback from the doorstep was extremely positive. There was, however, a real anger at the Tory Council’s decision to make massive cuts to Battersea Art Centre, which could lead to it closing down, the threatened closure of Wandsworth Museum and cuts in Youth provision.
I am working with the Labour Group of Councillors, Martin Linton (MP for Battersea) and Wandsworth residents to try and make the Council think again. You can see the EDM I have sponsored with Martin by clicking HERE.
On Saturday I joined Martin Linton MP, actress Prunella Scales and Wandsworth residents in a mock funeral outside Battersea Arts Centre. As I have written before, the Tory council have taken the disgraceful decision to cut the grant of BAC and start charging commercial rents to this superb local cultural asset. Our campaign continues to try and persuade the Tory Party locally and nationally of their folly. Further details can be found by going to the BAC website www.bac.org.uk. On Saturday I joined Martin Linton MP for Battersea, members of the Labour Group of Councillors and literally hundreds of local residents at Wandsworth Museum for medieval day. members of the trade union Unison were also there to collect signitures for the petition to keep the museum open. More than 7000 local people have now signed the petition that will be presented to the council
