No MPs During Election Campaign

The Backing Blair campaign today released a press release pointing out that almost 100 MPs won't be able to use their web sites once the General Election is announced.

In summary, the argument is that once Parliament is dissolved then there are no MPs and no-one has the right to use the title. The press release lists over 90 MPs who use domain names which include the title 'MP'. These MPs will therefore not be able to use those domains for the duration of the election campaign.

Whilst this problem doesn't apply to Martin Linton's official site it does apply to this site, so I thought it was worthwhile explaining the position this site will be taking during the election campaign.

Once Parliament is dissolved, Battersea will no longer have an MP so it would be wrong for this site to cover Martin Linton exclusively as it does now. We will switch to covering all of the candidates standing in the constituency. We hope to have a full list of the candidates as soon as it is published and we will be closely tracking all campaign activity. We will, of course, be striving to give all candidates equal coverage.

As the election results are announced we will go back to "business as usual" and will be covering whoever wins the election.
